2009 World Baseball Classic Semifinals Preview: Japan Battles Team USA

USA - Something will have to give when the United States and Japan clash in Sunday night’s semifinal matchup at Dodger Stadium. The Americans have not lost to Japan since the 2005 IBAF Baseball World Cup in the Netherlands. Team USA defeated the Japanese 8-4 in the bronze-medal game at last summer’s Beijing Olympics, and edged Japan 4-3 during pool play at the inaugural WBC. The United States spotted Japan an early 3-0 lead in the 2006 WBC, but rallied to beat Japan 4-3 at Anaheim Stadium.
