Manny Ramirez had been on the disabled list for all of an hour before he grabbed a bat and walked toward the underground hitting cage at Nationals Park for a midday workout. Not even an injured calf muscle could keep him from his routine. I told him to pick up a book, Dodgers manager Joe Torre said. Old habits die hard.
