May 4 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. Open champion Kim Clijsters pulled out of the Madrid Open because of two small muscle tears in her left foot, according to a statement posted on the Belgians website today.

BRUSSELS (AP) Kim Clijsters is out for up to six weeks after tearing a muscle in her foot during Saturday's Fed Cup singles match against Estonia. The injury forced her to pull out of Sunday's reverse singles in the Fed Cup best-of-five series against Estonia, and places in doubt the U.S. Open champion's participation in next month's French Open.
